Dear Friends,
With more than a dozen new works, Passages,
is a continuation of Reynier Llanes's recent
solo exhibition at the Gibbes Museum of Art
in Charleston, SC (May – September 2024).
Passages is a collection of vibrant and exciting
paintings that are as much "poetry on canvas" as
they are "oil on canvas".
Reynier Llanes is an artist who invites viewers
into his world - his childhood in Cuba, his
experiences as an emigre, his deep love of
literature, philosophy, technology, and history,
and his personal joys and heartbreaks. Llanes
puts his soul into his paintings and welcomes
the viewer to share in the range of emotions that
transcends the canvas and enters the viewer's
heart and mind.
In the nearly 10 years since we began representing Reynier Llanes,
his work has evolved greatly in style and subject matter.
His latest style is of his own creation, a new genre in
art, that a noted art historian labeled "Lyrical
Expressionism". His work is poetic in nature
and evokes many emotions in the viewer. There
are layers of symbolism in each painting such
that each viewer will find unique meaning in
the work based on their own interpretation
and reaction to the work. For some, a Llanes
painting resonates with the viewer forever.
Months after seeing a painting in a museum
show or magazine article or in the gallery, an
individual will contact the Gallery because they
simply cannot get the work out of their mind. Llanes's paintings are so
personal they truly find their owners.
Reynier Llanes is a rising star in the art world,
with his reputation continuing to expand with
museums and patrons. Today, Llanes works are
in the permanent collections of 20 museums
nationally. With ever increasing interest from
the public and art critics in Reynier Llanes, there
is little doubt that in no time Llanes will be
considered a great American master of art.
